Short on time? The essentials

  • Rosland Capital's footer legal disclaimer prints "Minimum purchase $2,500" on every captured page (per roslandcapital.com footer, checked August 2026). This is the only specific dollar figure on the site connected to a purchase.
  • The Gold IRAs page does not print a dollar figure for the IRA account minimum, the account setup fee, the annual custodian maintenance fee, the annual storage fee, the dealer buy premium, or the sell-side buyback spread (per roslandcapital.com/gold-iras/, checked August 2026).
  • The self-directed IRA custodian is referenced only as "the specialist IRA custodian company Rosland works with" and is not named by legal entity on the captured page. Every trustee sets its own fee schedule, so the identity of that trustee matters to what you pay.
  • Storage is described as "the secure depository in Delaware, where each IRA holder's precious metals are stored separately" (per roslandcapital.com/gold-iras/, checked August 2026). Segregated Delaware storage is a fine floor, but no depository legal entity is named on the captured page and no annual storage dollar figure is printed.
  • Rosland Capital LLC holds an A+ BBB rating and has been BBB accredited since October 1, 2008 (per bbb.org Los Angeles profile 1216-100073790, captured May 2025 via Wayback). The BBB profile lists 78 total closed complaints over the past 3 years and 52 over the past 12 months on the same capture.
  • Texas residents pay no state personal income tax on IRA distributions (per comptroller.texas.gov, checked August 2026). Fee drag inside the account is therefore the primary friction over ten and twenty year holds, not state income tax.

What Rosland Capital does not publish in writing

The Rosland Capital Gold IRAs page describes the account opening steps in six numbered stages and describes storage as a Delaware depository with segregated treatment (per roslandcapital.com/gold-iras/, checked August 2026). It does not print a dollar figure for the IRA account minimum, the account setup fee, the annual custodian fee, or the annual storage fee on that page.

That is not, on its own, a red flag. Several major dealers in the precious metals IRA segment work the same way. Specifics come from a specialist conversation followed by a written trustee application. The point for a fee-first reader is that comparison at the search-result level is impossible with public disclosure alone.

Rosland does print two useful pieces of information. The footer legal disclaimer repeats on every page and states "Minimum purchase $2,500" (per roslandcapital.com footer, captured August 2026). The Gold IRAs page also names the storage location as Delaware and describes storage as segregated. Both matter to how a reader thinks about the account, but neither replaces the four annual fee lines.

Horizontal bar chart labeled Rosland Capital IRA fee disclosure inventory August 2026. Seven fee lines that appear on any precious metals IRA account. For each line the bar shows a value of one if Rosland Capital publishes a specific dollar figure on its own captured public pages, and a value of zero if no specific dollar figure is printed on those captured pages. Retail minimum purchase, value one, dollar figure 2500 dollars, printed in the footer legal disclaimer on every captured Rosland page. IRA account minimum, value zero, no dollar figure printed on the Gold IRAs page. Account setup fee, value zero, no dollar figure printed. Annual custodian maintenance fee, value zero, the trustee is unnamed and its schedule is not printed. Annual depository storage fee, value zero, storage is described as a Delaware depository with segregated treatment but no dollar figure is printed. Dealer buy premium over spot, value zero, featured coin cards display the label call for price rather than a printed dollar figure. Sell-side buyback spread, value zero, no dollar figure printed. The four fee lines on any precious metals IRA

Before comparing any dealer, split the total cost of ownership into four lines. Each answers a different question, and each goes to a different party. Missing one line is the most common reason a first-year quote looks cheaper than it turns out to be twelve months later.

Line 1, the one-time setup fee. Charged at account open. Often split into a dealer intake fee and a trustee application fee. Rosland does not print either half on the captured Gold IRAs page. The trustee half is set by the self-directed IRA custodian, whose legal name should appear on your application before you sign.

Line 2, the annual custodian maintenance fee. Paid every year to the trustee to keep the self-directed IRA open. This is the trustee's fee, not Rosland's, and the trustee should publish it. Because Rosland's captured Gold IRAs page does not name the trustee, this figure requires two steps: name the trustee, then look up the trustee's schedule.

Line 3, the annual depository storage fee. Paid every year to the vault that stores the metal. Rosland describes storage as a "secure depository in Delaware" with segregated treatment. That description tells you the state and the segregation type; it does not tell you the depository legal entity or the annual dollar figure.

Line 4, the dealer spread on the coins or bars. Paid once at buy, and again at sell. This is a percentage of the metal value, not a flat dollar amount. A 5 percent buy spread on a 150,000 dollar buy is 7,500 dollars in year one. For most first-year buyers this is the largest single fee line. Rosland does not print product prices on its featured coin cards; every card shows the label Call for Price.

The 2,500 dollar minimum and how it applies to an IRA

Rosland Capital's footer legal disclaimer repeats on every page and contains one specific dollar figure. It reads: "Minimum purchase $2,500. Copyright 2026 Rosland Capital LLC. All Rights Reserved" (per roslandcapital.com footer, checked August 2026). That figure is a genuine piece of transparency for a dealer of this size. Many dealer footers bury the minimum in a phone script.

The 2,500 dollar line applies to a straight retail purchase of metal. The captured Gold IRAs page does not print a separate dollar minimum for opening a precious metals IRA account, and the footer legal does not draw a distinction between the two. A reader planning to open a self-directed IRA should confirm in writing whether the 2,500 dollar minimum applies to the IRA or whether the internal IRA minimum sits higher.

Two adjacent questions belong on the same email. First, is the 2,500 dollar figure the first-purchase minimum, or the total account minimum. Second, does the trustee also enforce its own minimum. Some self-directed IRA trustees will not open an account below a specific balance. Get both answers in writing on Rosland letterhead before scheduling the funding call.

The unnamed custodian and what that means for fees

The Gold IRAs page describes the trustee in one line: "the representative will send you the necessary forms from the specialist IRA custodian company Rosland works with" (per roslandcapital.com/gold-iras/, checked August 2026). The trustee is not named by legal entity on the captured page. That single omission drives two of the four annual fee lines.

Under Internal Revenue Code 26 U.S.C. section 408, an individual retirement account must be administered by a bank, an insured credit union, a savings and loan, or a non-bank IRS-approved trustee (per law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/26/408, checked August 2026). Rosland is a dealer, not a trustee and not a bank. The paperwork trail moves through Rosland, but the money and the coins land with the trustee and the depository.

Every self-directed IRA trustee charges its own fees. Those fees are set by the trustee and published on the trustee's own site. If the trustee's identity moves between the marketing page and the signed application, the fee schedule moves with it. Ask for the trustee legal name in writing before you wire any funds, and cross-check the trustee's published schedule against what the Rosland specialist has quoted verbally.

Delaware storage, segregated treatment, and unprinted numbers

The Gold IRAs page describes storage as "the secure depository in Delaware, where each IRA holder's precious metals are stored separately" (per roslandcapital.com/gold-iras/, checked August 2026). Two facts sit inside that sentence. First, the state is Delaware. Second, the storage type is segregated rather than commingled.

Delaware Depository is the widely used facility in that state and is a plausible reference for the description. The captured page does not name Delaware Depository or any other depository by legal entity, however. A reader who wants to price storage needs the depository legal name; only then can the depository's published schedule be looked up and compared.

Segregated storage means your specific coins and bars are kept physically apart from other client metal. Non-segregated storage pools identical bullion. Segregated storage typically carries a higher annual fee than non-segregated storage in the sector. Rosland describes the segregated treatment as the default; ask for the annual storage rate in dollars, not as a percentage, so the number lines up with the four-fee comparison used across dealers.

Dealer spread on Call for Price coins

The featured coin cards on the Rosland home page share one specific characteristic. Every card, across gold, silver, and platinum, shows the label Call for Price rather than a printed dollar figure or a linked spot-price feed (per roslandcapital.com home page, captured August 2026). The pattern repeats across the featured products captured on the home page.

The dealer spread is the difference between the spot price of the metal and the price Rosland Capital charges for the same coin or bar. It is paid twice: once at buy, and again at sell. Neither figure is printed on any captured page. For a fee-first buyer, this is the largest single fee line in year one on most gold IRA accounts.

Two rules keep dealer spread honest for any dealer, Rosland included. First, ask the specialist for the per-coin buy price and the current spot price in the same call. The gap is your buy spread on that product on that day. Second, ask for the same-day buyback quote on the exact coin being offered. The round-trip cost, buy price minus buyback, is what you actually pay to hold the coin through one full transaction cycle.

Spread ranges vary widely by product category. Plain bullion coins and non-numismatic bars typically carry the tightest spread. Proof editions, exclusive series, and branded commemoratives typically carry a wider spread. If the specialist proposes a mixed allocation, ask for the spread on each product separately rather than a blended average.

The buyback spread on the way out

The captured Rosland pages describe an account close in the RMD section: "you may choose to receive them in physical precious metals or their cash value, depending on your IRA holdings" (per roslandcapital.com/gold-iras/, checked August 2026). The captured pages do not print a specific buyback spread policy, a written no-fee guarantee at sale, or a numeric example of a resale quote.

Buyback pricing is a real fee whether or not a dealer names it. When metal is sold back through the same dealer, the buyback price is what the dealer will pay per coin, which is below spot by whatever sell spread applies on that day. The buyback quote at the time of buy is a stronger data point than a general policy sentence, because it fixes the exit gap for the specific coin.

Ask for the sell spread at the time of the buy, not at the time of sale. A specialist who declines to quote a same-day buyback price is signaling that the resale-side price is a negotiation, not a schedule. That is not disqualifying; it is a data point about how the account exit will feel when the time comes to take a required minimum distribution in metal or cash.

Texas taxes and why fees matter more here than in high-tax states

Texas has no state personal income tax on wages or on retirement account distributions (per comptroller.texas.gov, checked August 2026). A California retiree taking a 30,000 dollar required minimum distribution pays California ordinary income tax on top of federal tax. A Texas retiree taking the same 30,000 dollar distribution pays federal tax only.

That state-tax gap changes what matters inside the account. In a high-tax state, state income tax swamps most fee lines over a twenty year hold. In Texas, there is no state income tax to swamp, so the fee stack you signed at intake is a larger share of your net outcome over ten and twenty years. This is why the four-line fee schedule matters more in Dallas or Houston than in Los Angeles or San Francisco.

The practical effect is that Texas readers should insist on more of the fee schedule in writing than a California reader would. Two identical rollovers, one in Fort Worth and one in Los Angeles, end up with different net balances after twenty years primarily because the state tax differential is zero in Texas. Confirm every fee line in an email; do not accept verbal-only pricing on a Texas rollover.

The Texas Bullion Depository, when to raise it, when not to

The state-run Texas Bullion Depository sits in Leander, north of Austin. The Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts administers the facility. Its current operator is Lone Star Tangible Assets, referenced on the depository home page as "The Texas Bullion Depository, through its operator LSTA, is now holding precious metal IRA assets" (per texasbulliondepository.gov, checked August 2026).

The captured Rosland Capital pages do not name a Texas Bullion Depository partnership, a Texas office, or a Texas hire. Corporate operations point back to the Los Angeles address at 11766 Wilshire Boulevard, Suite 1200 (per bbb.org profile 1216-100073790, captured May 2025 via Wayback). Rosland's Gold IRAs page describes Delaware as the default storage state.

If a Texas reader wants metal stored inside Texas at the state facility rather than at a Delaware vault, that arrangement is not described on the captured Rosland pages. Raise it directly with the Rosland specialist and require a written confirmation from the trustee that the account can settle to the Texas Bullion Depository before any wire moves. If the trustee cannot settle to Leander, Delaware remains the fallback.

Fee comparison method that works against any dealer

The comparison method is the same for Rosland Capital as for any dealer that does not publish a full schedule online. Ask for the four annual fee lines in writing before you sign anything. Convert the numbers into a first-year total in dollars and a ten-year total in dollars. Compare that total against the size of the account, not against a percentage.

  1. Ask for the IRA account minimum in dollars. Confirm whether the 2,500 dollar footer figure is the account minimum or only the first-purchase minimum. Ask if the trustee enforces its own minimum. Keep the emailed answer.
  2. Ask for the one-time setup fee in dollars. Confirm the split between the dealer intake fee and the trustee application fee. Ask which portion is refundable if you cancel before the first purchase.
  3. Ask for the trustee legal name. Once the trustee is named, request that trustee's most recent published fee schedule directly. Cross-reference the dealer quote against the trustee's public schedule; ask about any gap.
  4. Ask for the annual depository storage fee in dollars. Confirm the depository legal name, whether it is Delaware Depository or another Delaware facility, and whether segregated storage is included or priced as an add-on.
  5. Ask for the per-coin buy price and same-day spot. Do this on the exact coin the specialist proposes. The gap is your dealer spread on the buy leg, the largest single fee for most first-year buyers.
  6. Ask for the same-day buyback quote on the same coin. The buy price minus the buyback price is your round-trip dealer cost. This should be quoted at buy, not saved for the day you sell.
  7. Compute the ten-year total. Sum: setup once, plus ten years of custodian fees, plus ten years of storage fees, plus the buy spread once. If the total exceeds 5 percent of your intended balance in year one, request line-by-line justification before signing.

Texas gold IRA fee-drag calculator

Texas gold IRAs charge mostly flat dollar fees (setup, annual custodian, storage). Flat fees take a much bigger bite out of a small account than a large one. Enter your numbers to see the drag.

Estimate only. Fee amounts vary by provider and are often not published; enter figures you confirm in writing. This tool ignores metal price changes and the dealer spread, which also affect returns. Not financial advice.

How to pin down every Rosland Capital fee before you sign

The intake call is the fee-discovery moment. Once you sign the trustee application and fund the account, changing the schedule requires either a written negotiation or an account close. Both are more work than doing it right at the start.

Bring the seven questions above to the call. Ask for every answer to come back by email, on Rosland letterhead or on the trustee's letterhead as appropriate. If the specialist declines to put a figure in email, that itself is data. Rosland does not have a public written no-email policy on its captured pages; a preference for verbal pricing is a preference, not a compliance rule.

The trustee's own fee schedule is the reference document for the custodian and storage lines. Once the trustee is named, print or save the trustee's schedule before the funding call. If the dealer quote is above the trustee's published tier for your account value, that gap needs a specific reason: a special-service upgrade, a private storage arrangement, or a fee waiver on other lines.

Worked example: fee drag on a Houston 150,000 dollar rollover

Worked example

Take a Houston resident, age 61, rolling a 150,000 dollar traditional IRA into a precious metals IRA at Rosland Capital. The captured Gold IRAs page does not print the trustee legal name, the setup fee, the annual custodian fee, or the annual storage fee. This example uses placeholder figures common in the self-directed IRA sector. Replace them with the real numbers the specialist and the trustee confirm in writing.

Assume a placeholder schedule: 50 dollars in setup, 225 dollars per year in custodian maintenance, and 150 dollars per year in segregated Delaware storage. Year one custodian and storage lines total 375 dollars, or 0.25 percent of the 150,000 dollar starting balance. Add the 50 dollar setup and year one is 425 dollars in fixed fees before any dealer spread.

Assume a 5 percent buy spread on a plain bullion allocation. On a 150,000 dollar buy, that spread is 7,500 dollars. Year one total: 7,925 dollars, or roughly 5.3 percent of the 150,000 dollar transfer amount. If the allocation shifts to a branded proof mix with a 15 percent spread on the proof portion, the buy spread rises accordingly. Ask for the spread on each coin category separately.

Years two through ten: 375 dollars per year for nine years, or 3,375 dollars added. Ten-year total on the placeholder schedule: 11,300 dollars, or 7.5 percent of the 150,000 dollar starting balance across ten years, before any sell-side spread at final liquidation. Texas readers pay no state income tax on the distribution side, so the entire 11,300 dollars is fee drag, not tax. Replace the placeholders with the real numbers before you sign.

When the Rosland fee stack makes this a bad idea

Situations where the Rosland Capital fee stack does not make sense for you.

If your rollover balance is below about 25,000 dollars, the fixed custodian and storage lines swallow a large percentage. On a 20,000 dollar account, 225 dollars annual custodian plus 100 dollars non-segregated storage is 1.6 percent per year before dealer spread. Add a 5 percent buy spread and year one is roughly 6.6 percent of the balance, gone before any metal price move.

If you expect to need liquidity in the next three to five years, the dealer buy-sell spread is a real round-trip cost that a stock or bond IRA does not carry. A 5 percent buy and a 3 percent sell spread is 8 percent gone before spot moves. Selling a coin back through a dealer is not the same as clicking sell on an ETF, and the captured Rosland pages do not print a written buyback price policy.

If you cannot get the trustee legal name and the four-line fee schedule in writing on the intake call, that is a reason to pause. Rosland does not appear to have a public policy against providing fees by email. Nobody can predict where metal prices will go, and starting a precious metals IRA without a written fee table and a named trustee is starting without knowing what you signed. Consult your tax advisor for your specific situation.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Rosland Capital account minimum?

The footer legal disclaimer on every captured Rosland Capital page states "Minimum purchase $2,500" (per roslandcapital.com footer, checked August 2026). The Gold IRAs page does not print a separate IRA-specific account minimum in dollars. Ask in writing whether the 2,500 dollar figure applies to the IRA account or only to a first retail purchase.

Does Rosland Capital publish a setup fee?

No. The captured Gold IRAs page does not print a dollar figure for the account setup fee. Setup fees on a self-directed IRA are typically split into a dealer intake portion and a trustee application portion. Ask for both figures in writing on Rosland letterhead, and ask which portion is refundable if you cancel before the first purchase.

Who is the self-directed IRA custodian on a Rosland Capital gold IRA?

The captured Gold IRAs page describes the trustee only as "the specialist IRA custodian company Rosland works with" and does not name that trustee by legal entity. Under 26 U.S.C. section 408, the trustee must be a bank, an insured credit union, a savings and loan, or an IRS-approved non-bank trustee. Ask for the trustee legal name in writing before you wire funds.

What is the annual custodian fee on a Rosland Capital gold IRA?

Rosland Capital does not print a specific figure. The annual custodian fee is set and charged by the self-directed IRA trustee, not by Rosland. Once the trustee is named in writing, request that trustee's published fee schedule; the annual maintenance line is typically tiered by account value.

Where does Rosland Capital store the metal, and what does storage cost?

The Gold IRAs page describes storage as "the secure depository in Delaware, where each IRA holder's precious metals are stored separately" (per roslandcapital.com/gold-iras/, checked August 2026). The captured page does not name the depository by legal entity and does not print an annual storage fee in dollars. Ask the trustee for the depository legal name and the annual storage rate.

How is the dealer spread charged on Rosland Capital coins?

The dealer spread is the difference between the spot price of the metal and the price Rosland Capital charges for the same coin or bar. It is not printed on any captured Rosland page; every featured coin card shows the label Call for Price. Ask the specialist for the per-coin buy price and the same-day spot; the gap is your buy spread. Ask for the buyback quote on the same coin at the same time.

Can I use the Texas Bullion Depository instead of Delaware storage on a Rosland Capital IRA?

The captured Rosland Capital pages do not describe a Texas Bullion Depository partnership. The state-run facility in Leander is operated by Lone Star Tangible Assets and does hold precious metal IRA assets (per texasbulliondepository.gov, checked August 2026). Ask the Rosland specialist and the named trustee whether they can settle the account to Leander in writing before you wire any funds.

What is Rosland Capital's BBB rating?

Rosland Capital LLC holds an A+ BBB rating and has been BBB accredited since October 1, 2008 (per bbb.org Los Angeles profile 1216-100073790, captured May 2025 via Wayback). The same profile capture lists 78 total closed complaints over the past 3 years and 52 over the past 12 months. Cross-check the live BBB profile before you sign to confirm the current rating and complaint counts.
