What an affiliate relationship is
An affiliate relationship is a referral arrangement. Harry’s Coins publishes editorial coverage of precious-metals IRAs. A small number of the companies we cover run affiliate programs that pay a commission when a reader we referred opens a qualifying account with them.
The reader pays the same price whether they arrive through an affiliate link or through a direct search. The commission comes from the company’s marketing budget, not from a markup on the reader’s account.
Which programs we participate in
We participate in affiliate programs with select gold IRA companies whose standards are consistent with our editorial policy. Each affiliate arrangement is disclosed on any page that carries a link to that partner: the disclosure block at the top of the page identifies that a commission may be earned when a reader opens an account through links on that page.
We may add or remove partner programs over time. This page is updated and the last-reviewed date is bumped when the partner list changes. If you want to know whether a specific company is an affiliate partner, every page that contains a sponsored link to that company carries an explicit disclosure block and a rel="sponsored nofollow" attribute on the link itself.
How this site makes money in plain English
The revenue mechanism is straightforward:
- You read an article. If the article recommends a specific action (a rollover, requesting a checklist, opening an account), it may include a link to an affiliate partner.
- You choose whether to click. The link is marked as sponsored. Nothing on the site nudges you to click a specific link at the expense of your judgment.
- If you click and eventually open a qualifying account with the partner, the partner may pay Harry’s Coins a commission. That commission is not billed to you and does not increase your account fees.
- Harry’s Coins uses that revenue to pay for research, hosting, editorial work, and site operations.
What we do to keep coverage independent
Affiliate revenue creates an obvious conflict of interest. We manage it through a page-tier system, a fixed review methodology, and a rule against paid placement.
Page-tier system
Not every page on Harry’s Coins carries an affiliate link. The tier system decides where a call-to-action can appear.

Fixed review methodology
Every company review answers the same list of questions in the same order: fee schedule, minimums, custodian and depository partnerships, dealer markup pattern, complaint history, and regulatory footprint. A partner cannot buy a higher ranking, softer language, or a positive verdict.
No paid placement
We do not accept payment for placement inside company reviews, chooser tools, or comparison tables. We do not accept payment for a specific verdict, a softer tone, or removal of criticism. The only revenue tied to an affiliate partner is the standard commission on qualifying accounts, disclosed on every page that carries the link.
Independence on competitor reviews
A review of a company that is not one of our affiliate partners does not contain an affiliate link, and does not link out to the reviewed company’s own website. Readers who want to visit the company can search for it directly. This rule protects competitor reviews from being influenced by referral considerations.
Federal Trade Commission compliance
Harry’s Coins follows the Federal Trade Commission’s Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising (16 CFR Part 255). The FTC requires that a material connection between an endorser and a company be disclosed clearly and conspicuously when it might affect the weight or credibility a reader gives to the endorsement.
Our implementation:
- Every page that carries an affiliate link includes a disclosure block above the fold.
- Every affiliate link is marked rel="sponsored nofollow" in the HTML, which is the Google-recommended attribute for paid or commercial links.
- Every affiliate call-to-action carries a “sponsored” label in the visible text near the button.
- This disclosure page is linked from the site footer and from the disclosure block on individual pages.
What this disclosure does not do
An affiliate disclosure is a transparency notice, not a substitute for verifying the underlying claims. Readers should:
- Read the primary sources we cite (IRS publications, statutes, court decisions, company documents). Every page names its sources so readers can go directly to them.
- Confirm current fees, minimums, and product terms with the provider before signing anything.
- Consult a licensed financial or tax advisor about their specific situation. Harry’s Coins publishes general educational material, not personalised advice.
Display advertising and other programs
We do not use pay-per-click advertising networks (Google AdSense, Mediavine, Raptive, or similar) that display third-party ads on our pages. We do not participate in the Amazon Associates program. Our monetisation is limited to the affiliate partner programs described above.
Changes to this disclosure
If we add or remove an affiliate partner, this page is updated to reflect the change and the last-reviewed date at the top is bumped. Substantive policy changes are noted in a dated line at the bottom of the page.
